We have asking ourselves the question if Nusa Penida is the new turtle heaven?
The Team from All 4 Diving Indonesia have recorded a lot more turtle sightings along some of the dive sites in the Nusa Penida Marine protected area. While Manta point has been many divers favorite dive site for years, maybe it is time to rename some dive sites to turtle point or even turtle heaven soon 😉
We have seen hawksbill and also green turtles so frequently now and all our divers absolutely love it. Turtles are easy to photograph and if you approach them slowly, they do not feel threatened and normally stay or simply mind their own business. We do observe them feeding, or resting at the bottom, but they are also spectacular to watch when they swim up to the surface to take a few breaths. Turtles can hold their breath for several hours at a time when they rest, but more common are dives of 15 to 30 minutes or so at a time.
We can’t know for sure, but one theory we think can be true is, that maybe all the turtle conservation that is happening all over the world is finally paying off and gives us the chance to encounter more of these stunning animals on our dive and snorkel trips. We will monitor the situation and keep you up to date. If you want to dive with turtles just get in touch with us and book your next dive trip with us in Nusa Penida.
We are looking forward to see you soon in Bali.
